Winter -Spring 2019: Replacing Floors
Three sections of the floors on this 1966 typ120 need replacement. Both rear floors and the right (passenger) front. The rear floors tend to rust out on these cars quite easily. Based on telltale signs of past water flow evidence, I assume the rears rusted out due to water intrusion from a worn-out rear window gasket. The right front was attacked from above (windshield gasket) but more so from serious rust that attacked the rockers, especially in the inner rocker and the A-pillar base. Typical for the passenger side of a car traveling down the roads whereby more standing water and corrosive solids gather and get flung up into the wheel wells near the curb and gutter.are convenient destination for water to pool. Removing the backseat base requires a lot of spot weld removal, along with cutting and/or grinding regular welds some of which are tough to reach with cut off tools. In some difficult locations a small Dremel cutting wheel and grinding point were employed.
